A crane came crashing down in front of two homes in Hialeah.

According to the Hialeah Fire Department, an independent contractor was working on a concrete light pole when the crane experienced a malfunction, causing it to fall over near East 63rd Street and Fourth Avenue.

Surveillance video from a nearby home captured the moment the base of the crane began to tip over. Several workers could be seen running away for safety.

7Skyforce hovered over the scene where the downed crane could be seen stretching from the side of one property and reaching to the end of the neighboring property.

The crane managed to narrowly avoid hitting nearby powerlines and came within inches of hitting the back of a parked car in one of the driveways.

The incident also caused the light pole to collapse, which crashed through a fence and landed on the end of the driveway. A nearby tree was also split in half.

Hialeah Police and Fire crews responded to the area, shutting down the surrounding streets, as their investigation and the cleanup began.

Authorities say they evacuated the residents from the nearby homes out of an abundance of caution.

A resident who lives inside one of the two homes told 7News in Spanish he’s thankful his family is OK.

The man, who did not wish to be identified, went on to say he wasn’t home when the crane tipped over and was relieved nothing worse happened.

Mayra Jimenez lives in the third house over.

She told 7News she also feels grateful things didn’t turn out worse as the crane landed right next to her home.

“I feel lucky. But nothing happened, not even my car, not even my neighbors, so it’s OK. Everything was fine,” she said.

Derek Sather, the chief risk officer for Sims Crane & Equipment, the company that owns the crane, provided a statement about the incident.

“We are beyond thankful that no one was injured in this unfortunate incident today in Hialeah. It’s important to note that at Sims Crane, safety is our top priority. We are thoroughly looking into what actually occurred, and committed to meeting the standards of the community and customers that count on our services daily.”

No injuries were reported.

Officials also determined there was no structural damage caused by the crane collapse.

It remains unclear how long the operation to upright the crane will take nor when that section of the street will be reopened for drivers.
