South Florida Braces for a Midweek Deep Freeze Before Rapid Warm-Up

Monday features lows in the 40s on the mainland on a cold, breezy, and sunny day. A high risk of dangerous rip currents is in place at the Gulf and Atlantic beaches. Monday’s highs will only reach the low 60s in most of South Florida, with only some suburban locations in the east coast metro area topping out in the mid 60s.

Tuesday will bring downright cold morning lows in the upper 30s to the mid 40s on the mainland and the low 50s in the Keys. Then we’ll see another sunny but cold day around South Florida. Expect a high risk of dangerous rip currents along the Palm Beach County coast and a moderate rip current risk at the beaches of Broward and Miami-Dade. Tuesday’s highs will be in the mid-60s in the East Coast metro area and the Keys, and in the low-60s along the Gulf Coast.

Wednesday will feature another cold morning, with lows in the mid to upper 40s on the mainland, followed by lots of sun and a few clouds throughout South Florida as a warming trend begins in the afternoon. Wednesday’s highs will be in the mid-70s in the East Coast metro area and the Keys, and in the low-70s along the Gulf Coast.

Thursday morning lows will range from the mid-50s to the low-60s on the mainland. Then look for mostly sunny skies in the East Coast metro area and the Keys, while the Gulf Coast will see lots of sun. Thursday’s highs will be near 80 degrees in the East Coast metro area and mostly in the upper 70s along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.

Friday’s forecast calls for morning lows in the seasonable 60s, followed by a mix of sun, clouds, showers, and maybe a stray storm on the mainland and a mix of sun and clouds in the Keys. Highs on Friday will be mostly in the mid 80s in the East Coast metro area and in the upper 70s along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.
