Expect high heat, dangerous rip currents, and afternoon storms while forecasters monitor a developing low off the coast.
Sunday features plenty of hot sun around South Florida. The East Coast metro area could see a stray morning storm, along with periods of showers and storms in the afternoon as well. The Gulf Coast and the Keys will also see some late afternoon storms. Expect an elevated risk of dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches. Sunday’s highs will be mostly in the low 90s on the mainland and near 90 degrees in the Keys. But it will feel much hotter everywhere, so stay hydrated and out of the sun.
Monday will bring sunny skies and summer heat to the mainland. The Keys will be mostly sunny, with a chance of showers or storms in spots. Monday’s highs will be in the low 90s
Tuesday will feature lots of hot sun and a few showers and storms, mainly in the afternoon, around South Florida. Tuesday’s highs will be in the low 90s.
Wednesday will be sunny and hot on the mainland, with periods of mid- to late-afternoon showers and storms. The Keys will see lots of hot sun, with a chance of showers or storms. Wednesday’s highs will be in the low 90s and near 90 degrees in the Keys.
Thursday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun, clouds, showers, and storms in the East Coast metro area. The Gulf Coast will see hot sun alternating with showers and storms, while the Keys will be sunny with maybe a stray shower. Highs on Thursday will be in the low 90s on the mainland and near 90 degrees in the Keys.
The tropical Atlantic is quiet right now, but we’re watching the Atlantic off the southeastern US coast, where a low is expected to form in a day or two. The National Weather Service gives this feature a low chance of developing into a depression over the next several days.
