Sunshine and Afternoon Storms Take Center Stage While Tropical Outlook Begins (Tropic Video)

Thursday features mostly sunny skies and mainly afternoon showers and storms in the east coast metro area.  The Gulf coast will be sunny with periods of storms in the afternoon, while the Keys will be mostly sunny with a few showers.  Expect a moderate risk of dangerous rip currents at the beaches of Broward and Palm Beach counties.  Thursday’s highs will be in the upper 80s right at the Atlantic coast and in the Keys, and in the low 90s elsewhere in South Florida.

Friday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, with mainly afternoon showers and storms on the mainland.  The Keys will be mostly sunny with a few showers.  Expect an elevated risk of dangerous rip currents along the Palm Beach County coast.  Friday’s highs will be near 90 degrees.

Saturday will feature mostly sunny skies, with some afternoon storms in the East Coast metro area.  The Gulf Coast will be sunny until some storms develop during the afternoon.  Look for lots of sun in the Keys.  Saturday’s highs will be mostly in the low 90s in the East Coast metro area and in the upper 80s along the Gulf Coast and in the Keys.

Monday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun, clouds, showers, and storms in the east coast metro area.  The Gulf Coast and the Keys will be mostly sunny with the chance of a shower or storm.  Highs on Monday will be in the low 90s in the east coast metro area and mostly in the upper 80s along the Gulf coast and in the Keys.

In the tropical Atlantic, we’re keeping an eye on the Bay of Campeche, where an area of low pressure could form from tropical moisture moving northeastward from the Pacific.  Right now, the National Hurricane Center gives this a low chance of becoming a depression.
