South Florida Holiday Weekend Weather: Intense Heat, Coastal Hazards, and Scattered Storms Ahead

24 de mayo de 2026

South Florida faces dangerous rip currents, soaring holiday heat index values, and a steady progression toward rainier weekdays ahead.

Sunday features lots of hot sun and a chance of showers or storms on a gusty breeze in the East Coast metro area.  The Gulf Coast will be sunny but storms will develop in the afternoon, followed by some evening showers.  The Keys will be mostly sunny with some showers and storms in spots.  A high risk of dangerous rip currents is in place at the Atlantic beaches through Tuesday evening.  Sunday’s highs will be in the upper 80s near the Atlantic coast and in the Keys, and in the low 90s elsewhere on the mainland — but it will feel about 10 degrees hotter, so stay hydrated and out of the sun.

Memorial Day will bring hot sun and some clouds on a gusty breeze to the East Coast metro area.  The Gulf Coast will see lots of sun and some afternoon storms on a gusty breeze, while the Keys will be mostly sunny and breezy with a storm in spots.  A high risk of dangerous rip currents remains at the Atlantic beaches through Tuesday evening.  Monday’s highs will be near 90 degrees in the East Coast metro area and the Keys, and in the low 90s along the Gulf Coast.

Tuesday will feature mostly sunny skies with afternoon showers and storms on the mainland.  The bulk of the storms will be along the Gulf Coast and in the interior.  The Keys will see more clouds than sun with periods of showers.  A high risk of dangerous rip currents will continue at the Atlantic beaches.  Tuesday’s highs will be mostly in the upper 80s.

Wednesday will see lots of clouds and periods of showers and storms around South Florida.  The mainland will see a gusty breeze as well.  Wednesday’s highs will be mostly in the upper 80s.

Thursday’s forecast calls for clouds and periods of showers and storms in the East Coast metro area, while the Gulf Coast and the Keys will see a mix of sun, clouds, showers, and some storms.  Highs on Thursday will be mostly in the upper 80s.
