South Florida Weather: A Week of Sizzling Sun, Daily Storms, and Dangerous Beach Rip Currents

Expect a mix of hot sunshine, daily afternoon storms, gusty coastal breezes, and dangerous Atlantic rip currents ahead.

Sunday features some sun with plenty of clouds and periods of storms on a gusty breeze in the East Coast metro area.  The Gulf Coast will be mostly sunny with plenty of afternoon showers.  Look for a mix of hot sun, some clouds, and periods of showers in the Keys.  Expect an elevated risk of dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches.  Sunday’s highs will be in the upper 80s in the East Coast metro area, the low 90s (and feeling about 10 degrees hotter) along the Gulf Coast, and near 90 degrees in the Keys.

Monday will bring mostly sunny skies around South Florida, but look for some showers and storms as well.  The East Coast metro area and the Keys will see periods of showers, while the Gulf Coast will see a few early storms and lots of showers in the afternoon.  Look for gusty breezes in the East Coast metro area and an elevated risk of dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches.  Monday’s highs will be in the upper 80s in the east coast metro area and the low 90s along the Gulf coast and in the Keys.

Tuesday will feature good sun, morning showers, and some afternoon storms on a gusty breeze in the East Coast metro area.  The Gulf coast will be sunny in the morning, then showers will develop in the afternoon.  The Keys will be mostly sunny with a few storms in spots.  Expect an elevated risk of dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches.  Tuesday’s highs will be in the upper 80s in the east coast metro area and the low 90s along the Gulf coast and in the Keys.

Wednesday will be sunny with a few showers and storms on a gusty breeze in the East Coast metro area.  The Gulf Coast will be sunny with some quick showers and storms in spots.  The Keys will see lots of hot sun.  Expect an elevated and increasing risk of dangerous rip currents at the Atlantic beaches.  Wednesday’s highs will be in the upper 80s in the east coast metro area and the low 90s along the Gulf coast and in the Keys.

Thursday’s forecast calls for a mix of sun, showers, and storms on the mainland, while the Keys will be sunny and hot.  Highs on Thursday will be in the upper 80s in the East Coast metro area and the Keys.
