On March 1, 2026, a “one-way” Iranian unmanned aircraft system (drone) struck a tactical operations center at Port Shuaiba, Kuwait. The facility served as a logistics hub for the 103rd Sustainment Command.
Cause of Death
The Pentagon confirmed the soldiers died from injuries sustained during the drone impact. While the site was fortified, the specific high-velocity nature of the Iranian drone bypassed existing local defenses. Initially, three deaths were reported; a fourth soldier succumbed to wounds on Monday, while the remains of two “unaccounted for” soldiers were recovered later, bringing the total death toll of the incident to six.

Total Casualties: 6 U.S. service members killed; 18 wounded. Ten remain in serious condition.
Scope of Operation: Over 1,700 targets struck in Iran, including the compound of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was confirmed killed in the initial Saturday strikes.
Naval & Air Conflict: CENTCOM confirmed the sinking of an Iranian corvette and clarified that three U.S. F-15E jets were lost to a “friendly fire” incident by Kuwaiti air defenses during the chaos of the Iranian retaliatory barrage; all six crew members ejected and were recovered safely.
